Susan Smolensky

Fine Artist

Susan Smolensky is a fine art oil painter who has developed an original and engaging style that is uniquely her own.

She is interested in imaginatively expressing a reality that exists outside of ordinary perception. With paintbrush and canvas, oil paints and a sense of unrestrained energy, Smolensky evokes a sense of wonder that transcends the subject and goes beyond the limit of human senses.  Her goal is to paint representations of nature and the figure  that are harmoniously  beautiful while simultaneously showing the viewer a reality that is beyond perceptual appearances and expectations.

A few years ago, from a repertoire of equine paintings, lovely dancing ballerinas made their debut and continue to flow off her easel. A fine selection of beautifully light-filled  debutants painted with impressionistic strokes can be found here.

Smolensky has exhibited in numerous juried and solo shows, winning awards. Her work has been published several times in The Chronicle of the Horse magazine. Her popular Santa riding on a Zebra made the front cover on their holiday issue, December 2012.

She is a member of the Oil Painters of America, Women Artists of the West and the American Impressionist Society.
