Final Day of Roux & Cyr

Regretfully, the Roux & Cyr International Fine Art Gallery will be closing its doors forever. A combination of factors led to this decision to close, but it is a sad day for the Southern Maine arts community. We look back at over a decade of fine art by local and international artists being displayed in an elegant setting, and the many classes and workshops that were held in the studio space with fond memories. May the artists continue to have successful careers and the students have the opportunity to spread their creative wings elsewhere! Thank you to all who patronized the gallery and studio for their support, and to the numerous staff and teachers for their hard work!

Canceled: Sketching as a Foundation for Painting, Part 2: CompositioN

If you enjoyed Janet Laird-Lagassee’s workshop on Sketching as a Foundation for Painting last month and would like more, or you were unable to attend the first workshop, this is an opportunity to learn more from Janet. The first workshop focused on sketching supplies and Janet showed slides of a number of her sketches to illustrate her points. This workshop will focus on composition, such as what elements make a painting interesting, where does the eye go, what should be included or eliminated, and students will spend most of the workshop sketching from still life, real life, or reference photos. The workshop costs $150. Take the opportunity to learn from an award-winning watercolor artist! The skills taught can be applied to any medium.
