OSKAR THORARENSEN

I was born in 1959.  I live in Reykjavík Iceland.  I am married and have three daughters.  I whent to Law School in Reykjavik.  I had my own law office for 10 years but the last 19 years I have worked for the Attorney General Civil affairs in Iceland. 

I have been traveling to Maine for a few weeks most summers for 8-9 years. I love painting there and the painterly athmosphere there. The works of Edward Hopper, John Singer Sargent and Andrew Wyeth have inspired me most and I try to see their works when I travel to the US.  I mostly paint with watercolors, but the last few years I have taken some workshops in oil painting and hope to paint both in watercolors and oil in the future.  Painting cityscapes interests me the most.
