BIO

Working from his home studio in Searsport, Maine, Peter explores new ways to convey his thoughts and feelings with oil paint as he renders scenes of nature in a soft realistic style.   Peter Yesis has always been drawn to the drama of the sea, the delight of flowers and to the beauty of the outdoors. A native of New Jersey he shifted his focus to traditional easel painting after a long career in the engineering field. His artwork has been featured in national exhibitions and has received numerous awards and honors. A member of Plein Air Painters of Maine , Oil Painters of America, and the  American Impressionist Society.  Peter is represented by Roux & Cyr International Gallery, Portland, ME.

“When I am painting, my goal is to draw the viewer's attention to the underlying beauty that I see. While I may set the mood and begin to tell a story, the painting should hold the viewer’s attention long enough so they discover and feel something of their own.”
